HSJ Patient Safety Awards 2024 winners

The team were so honoured and surprised when they heard they’d won this HSJ award for the Learning Disabilities Initiative of the year!

The endorsement of such a high profile, national award means a great deal to the whole project team and will provide an excellent platform on which to share and showcase this work to benefit even more people.

The judges comments really capture the essence of the project and reflect the dedication of the whole team:

“The judges were particularly impressed by the simplicity and impact of this initiative which addresses one of the leading causes of avoidable deaths for people with a learning disability, the leadership and dedication to improving care pathways and creating broader societal and environmental benefits were noted. The coproduction approach with individuals with learning disabilities demonstrated a strong commitment to patient involvement, this initiative’s scalability and potential for even greater impact, make it a truly stand out project.”

Professional awards such as this are a real boost to morale and recognition of all the work that goes into projects such as ours so it was very special to be able to share the news with the focus group who were as thrilled as we were!

We are looking forward to continuing in our efforts to improve the health of people with a learning disability and to supporting more people to access the Keeping My Chest Healthy resources.
